The question about how to build an audience online or how to use Social Media to build your business has been around for a while, and to be honest with you…I think that it will always be around.  Especially with the ever-changing landscape of Social Media, with the different platforms and trends that come and go.

I’ve been working in Social media and Content Marketing for 15 years now.  I’ve worked on the R&D teams for large companies when Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook were new.  I was responsible for determining what types of content performed best on each platform, which types were the most engaging and what sells.

Content Marketing became more popular because it was a means of providing value to people rather than blatant advertising.  We started to notice that our audiences engaged more when they felt like they weren’t being hounded to death to by this product and that product.  It became a great form of passive marketing.
